Stuck in a Rut? It's Time to Embrace the Uncomfortable!
Have you heard of the word antithesis? It means doing the opposite of something. Similarly, the opposite of change or transformation is resistance. This resistance makes your life painful, complicated, and stagnant.
The will to not change, or recognize our resistance and not transform is yes! It is a choice, but the willingness to accept and drop the stance of it helps your connection with yourself.
I believe resistance is a survival instinct of our nervous system that blocks our cognitive abilities and hence, the mind that has been in survival mode for the longest time, does not allow us to open ourselves to change and fall back on our gut instincts and rather further resist change and transform.
But, the flip side is that resisting change for a longer duration makes you lose the relationship with yourself because you block or ignore emotions and only see through the lens of your preconceived notions and conditioned responses. Neuroscientists have also proved that the human brain often chooses protection over vulnerability because of experiences and stored trauma.
Mental health professionals make an effort for people to be vulnerable, and hence they truly understand that taking the courage to open the layers of your emotions to strangers isn't easy either. Courage is a state of abstractness and is intangible. It takes time for most people out there to take time to reflect and, seeing that there is a problem to be addressed, it also takes courage and wisdom!
This deep-rooted culture of numbing to step up and act from a place of courage only comes when one feels the gravitas of their emotions. Numbing negative, as well as positive feelings, prevents us from our true meaning and purpose in life, creating a vicious cycle.
Most of the time, why we resist coming out of our comfort zone is our inhibitions, lack of courage, fear of judgment, and at times even procrastination-and also the deep-rooted ancestral conditioning that passes on and becomes a part of our DNA with every generation until this loop is broken.
Breaking free from resistance isn't easy, but it's worth it. By facing our fears and embracing vulnerability, we open ourselves to growth, deeper connections, and a more fulfilling life. Remember, every step towards change, no matter how small, is an act of courage. Your future self will thank you for taking that leap!
